“Digital Life Design 2012 Redux Gifs” is a collection of 19 meme-inspired animated GIFs created by Simon Denny during DLD, an elite, invitation-only conference for the exchange of ideas between digital media, the sciences and culture. They represent short snippets of conversations and panel discussions from the middle of Web2 hype cycle, attesting to Denny’s long standing interest in technology, obsolescence and the transmission of information. Ranging from how a tech company should look like - “we have astroturf on the floor, bright colorful walls, a treehouse and sofas in the meeting room” - to user generated content - “if you’ve nothing to say in the future it’s going to be much harder” - these animations are tiny windows to another time. They show how our digital future was seen in a recent past, conveying in a hyper condensed - and often hilarious - form yesterday's technological delusions, in all their enthusiasm, naivety, arrogance or sheer nonsense.
